The one true Planter did not micromanage every detail. He planted possibility, set perfect laws in motion, and watched His living forest grow.
A Plan Written Into Creation
The one true Planter — the wise Gardener — did not micromanage every detail.
Instead, He created perfect, unchanging laws of physics with full intention and knowledge of what they would produce. Those laws unfolded exactly as designed: the Big Bang, the formation of stars and planets, the slow, breathtaking rise of life, and eventually human beings through the magnificent process we now call evolution.
This was never a mistake or a surprise to the Gardener. It was the method He chose — brilliant, patient, and full of wonder.
He planted the seed of possibility and stepped back to watch His living forest grow.
Why Ancient Elders Gave Us Adam and Eve
Long before microscopes, DNA, or evolutionary biology, ancient wisemen and elders looked at the world and asked the same big questions we still ask today.
“Where did we come from?”
“Why are we here?”
“Why do we feel separated from Him?”
They had no knowledge of evolution. So they did what wise storytellers have always done — they created a powerful, symbolic narrative that made sense in their time and gave them spiritual stature as teachers and leaders.
Adam and Eve are purely symbolic and metaphorical.
They are not literal history. They are a beautiful, ancient explanation of human origins and our relationship with the Creator. The story helped early communities understand identity, partnership, temptation, and the need for grace. It also gave the elders authority as the ones who could “explain the mysteries.”
That’s not dishonest — that’s human. That’s exactly what we’ve been saying all along: the Bible is powerful human testimony, not laboratory proof.
The Rib Detail — A Perfect Example of Ancient Curiosity
Ancient people explored human anatomy in limited ways — through injuries, battle wounds, mummification, and very early dissections. They noticed bodies, counted bones, and saw natural variations (some people really do have 11 or 13 ribs instead of the usual 12 pairs).
The detail in Genesis that “God took one of Adam’s ribs to make Eve” beautifully illustrates your point: the elders took their honest observations (and honest questions) about the human body and wove them into a memorable story.
Modern fact: Men and women have the exact same number of ribs — 24. The “missing rib” belief is a myth that grew from the story, not the other way around.
Whether the rib detail came from real anatomical curiosity or pure symbolism, it shows the heart of what we believe: the ancient writers were doing their best with the knowledge they had, pointing us toward the Gardener who made us “bone of bone and flesh of flesh” — meant to stand side-by-side in relationship with Him and each other.
This View Makes Everything More Beautiful
When we release the need to defend Adam and Eve as literal history, the Bible becomes even more alive:
A collection of honest human stories that still speak truth.
A record of people wrestling with the same God we love.
A clear invitation to see the Gardener’s genius in ancient metaphor and modern science.
And when the garden of humanity grew sick with control, fences, and religious power games — the Gardener stepped in as Jesus, the great Pruner, to cut the walls down and declare the kingdom open to everyone.

You can be rooted in the Planter who designed the laws and the Big Bang and evolution with perfect intention… and freed by the Jesus who tore down every fence that tried to separate us from that same loving Gardener.
